GNOTs Results

We have now completed our 2026 Grand National Open Teams event.

Thirteen teams battled it out for gold points with the top three as follows:

1ST - CARROLL TEAM (Great Lakes)

2ND - BODYCOTE TEAM (Taree/Great Lakes)

3RD - JOHNSON TEAM (Port Macquarie)

I am pleased to report that every team earned some gold!

Our thanks go out to John McIlrath who ran both weeks brilliantly, overcoming many obstacles along the way.

Congratulations to all the participants.

Club Birthday

Fifty-three members and friends celebrated our Club's 46th Birthday yesterday.

Pauline shared a few words about the club's early days, followed by feasting on two large, calorie-dense cakes.

It is a reminder of how far we have come in that time and how fortunate we are today, with our lovely new, spacious room and a growing membership of enthusiastic players.

Thank you to all those visitors who shared in our celebration.

Matt's Kitchen

It's official. Our new kitchenette is now complete.

We would like to thank everyone who helped in this project but especially Matt Etherington, who did the bulk of the work. Matt spent many hours/days completing this task and the result is amazing.

Everyone will benefit from having ready access to boiling water "on tap" and quick access to a refrigerator.

I could be forgiven for suggesting that one of the best outcomes is we won't have to listen to that dreaded trolley running over the tiles anymore!!!

Thank you Matt - great job!

Happy 90th Birthday!

Today at Supervised Play, twenty members celebrated Pam Archer's 90th Birthday.

We can always count on Dawn to provide something scrumptious and she certainly didn't let us down.

On behalf of everyone at Taree Bridge Club we would like to wish Pam many happy returns of the day. You are a valued member of our Club and we hope you won't suffer with a serious case of calorie-overload!!!

Congratulations

The results are in from the Australia-Wide Under 100MPs competition.

Our congratulations go to Louise Whitby and Jill Bicknell who finished in 49th place out of 1,457 participants. They achieved 62.9%.

Well done ladies!

Grand National Open Teams

We have had a wonderful response to our upcoming 2 week GNOTs event commencing next Tuesday, 9 June.

Fourteen teams have registered, which is the maximum we can take at the moment. They represent Taree, Great Lakes and two teams from Port Macquarie.

Everyone is looking forward to an exciting time and really appreciate having John McIlrath directing for us.

Australia-Wide Novice Pairs

Twenty-four enthusiastic Novices battled it out this morning in the Australia-Wide Under 100MPs event held at our club. Everyone was on their very best behaviour as they displayed their improving bridge skills. We commenced at 9:00am and finished at 12:30pm with a presentation of Certificates to the Winners.

Souvenir booklets were given to each participant so they can compare their results with the expert's choice of correct bidding and line of play for each hand.

Placings were as follows:

Gold Point Event on the Horizon

We are running a two week GNOTs (Grand National Open Teams) on Tuesday, 9 and 16 June.

Eight teams have already registered and we are aiming for 12 teams.

We are very fortunate to have arranged for John McIlrath to direct this event for us.

This is the only local event which offers gold points for wins.

Hurry and organise your team today and add your names to the online list.

New Digs!

With thanks to the hard-working volunteers that made this happen, Taree bridge players converged on the Club's new playing room last week. Although some small tasks are yet to be completed, all who played last Saturday (pictured) were impressed with the new room's natural light, airiness and space. Well done committee and friends!

PS  For those yet to play there, the room is alongside our previous area and may be entered from the rear as before, and also via the front glass doors. Parking remains the same.
